English 4, Post 8: "English Language challenges"

Hello everyone  Today I am going to talk about my experience with English at the university. My experience learning English at the university has been very good, the teachers have always been concerned about the learning of all their students and I like that the course program includes activities that improve skills such as writing, reading and listening. I consider the blog writing method to be a good technique, because it allows the student to develop their writing skills and increase their vocabulary. My only problem with the English courses is related to an administrative aspect, which is the schedules that these courses have, because the only sections that did not coincide with other courses that I had to take, were at very inconvenient hours. Among the aspects of my English that I would like to improve is oral expression, one of the things I could do to improve could be to listen to interviews to get used to the vocabulary and practice pronunciation by having conversat...

English 4, Post 7: "Changes to my study programme"

Hello everyone Today I am going to talk about the study program of my career. In general, I consider that the study program and the duration of the biochemistry degree are adequate, since it covers several courses that allow to build a good knowledge base of the sciences. Although if I could change something in the study program, it would be to create a course that is introductory to the practical aspects of the career, so that first-year students have a first approach to the work of biochemists. Another aspect that I would like to change is to increase the variety of elective courses available and improve their schedule, so that students have more freedom to choose and the schedule is not a limitation. Regarding the teaching methods, I consider that they are adequate, since in most of the courses there are seminars, in which it allows to reinforce and apply the material seen in class, in addition to being an instance to clarify the doubts that may arise. The faculty has a good i...

English 4, Post 6: "Time Travel to the future"

Hello everyone Today I am going to talk about time travel. If I could travel in time, I would really prefer to travel to the past, because it would be able to witness some historical moments.   Regarding traveling to the future, I really wouldn't like it, because the effects of climate change are getting more and more terrible, so it doesn't seem like a very promising future. But being more optimistic and if it suggested the opportunity to go to the future, I would travel 100 years in time and tour the whole world, to see what has happened to humanity and how knowledge has progressed. Also, I would like to know if the historical monuments are still standing or if there are new ones. It would also be very interesting to be able to visit the museums, to know how the events that we are now living have been told and to know what books, music and films would be considered classics by the new generations.   I would not like to live in the future, firstly because I think it wo...

English 4, Post 5: "My future job"

Hello everyone Today I am going to tell you about my dream job. I am a biochemistry student so I would like to have a job related to my career. I would like to work in scientific research specifically in a laboratory that focuses on pathophysiology, because I am interested in understanding the processes that lead to the development of diseases and with this knowledge I could help a little in the search for new treatments. I would love to be able to travel to different countries and work with other researchers who are dedicated to different specialties, to be able to learn new techniques, in addition to knowing new perspectives to approach research problems. Another area in which I would like to work is in the forensic area, because previously I had taken an elective course in forensic chemistry, physics and toxicology, and I really liked it, because I found it very interesting to be able to apply different scientific knowledge in criminal investigations. Regarding the salary, I hop...

Hello everyone Today I am going to talk to you about red pandas, because they are one of my favorite animals and they are really adorable, so they require more recognition. Red pandas or Ailurus fulgenst according to their scientific name, are mammals that mainly inhabit the Himalayan region, northern Burma and southern China. These animals measure about 50 cm and weigh up to 6 kg, they are characteriz ed by having red fur, a long and hairy tail with which they keep warm in winter, also because they have shorter hind legs they walk in a very particular way. Red pandas are solitary and spend most of the day in the trees, where they get their food consisting mainly of bamboo, fruits, insects and eggs. These mammals are in danger of extinction due to the deforestation of their habitat and hunting. It is for this reason that there are organizations dedicated to the protection of animals such as "Red Panda Network". A curious fact about these animals is that their p...

English 4, Post 3: "Plant physiology and biochemistry"

Imagen
Hello everyone One of the courses that I have this semester is plant physiology and biochemistry, it is the first course that I have that is focused on plants, so all the topics that we have been taught in this subject are very different from those that we see in the other subjects. In this subject, the contents cover both the study of the molecular processes that occur inside the plant cell and the interaction between the plant organs. It is a completely new world, because the diversity of plants is enormous and each one has its own characteristics, which increases its complexity. One of the things that strikes me is that the area of study of botany is very broad and there are many applications that can be used in industry, medicine, and even forensic investigations.  The classes are interesting, because it allows us to realize that even though the plants on the outside seem static, inside there is a great amount of process that occurs constantly. Also, this subject underst...

Hello everyone One of my favorite vacations that was when i visited the Aysén region in February 2019, we went for almost two weeks with my whole family: my parents, my brother and my two sisters. We went to the Jeinimeni National Park, which became one of my favorite places, I had never seen so many trees and the water was turquoise. In the park, we climbed several hills and we were exhausted, because the distance of the trail was much longer than it said on the map, but it was worth it, the view from the top was really wonderful, all the colors were so intense and you could only hear the sound of the lake We also visited several places near the general lake. During those vacations we walked too much, we left early to enjoy the whole day and we visited the different places and we arrived in the afternoon very hungry to eat in a restaurant in the sector. On days when the weather was warm, we took advantage of swimming in the lake. These vacations became my favorites, beca...
